Too Early for Holiday Marketing?

OK, I didn't see this yet but I just love it!

I went to the grocery store over the weekend (YES, I do some of the household grocery shopping!), and couldn't help but notice something ... Holiday!

Holiday as in snowmen and Santa and Christmas trees ... all via tissue boxes, cookie mixes, ice cream containers, and end aisle displays.

Given that I have not even picked out my Halloween costume and it's still 60 degrees in the shade, I found it all a little too ... early.  My head just isn't into snowman cookies and candy cane ice cream yet, sorry.  As much as I love the holidays, I want to enjoy every minute of each season.  And it's still the Fall!

I was wondering how you all felt, and then I saw this spot from Target.  This REALLY feels early in my book:

Whoa!  Snow and holiday ornaments ... in the middle of October!  I know there's always a rush to be first during the critical Holiday season, but is this just a little bit too early?  All in due time, folks, all in due time.

Now here's a retailer, Nordstrom, that got it right ... one holiday at a time!

What's your experience?  Jim
