Chris Powell, Transformation Specialist

I've heard Chris Powell's name in the periphery several times now, but never knew exactly who he is ... so I decided to check him out.

He's a self-proclaimed "Transformation Specialist" -- host of abc's Extreme Weightloss and two-time best selling author.  His show is a spin off and "in class" version of Extreme Home Makeover and Biggest Loser, wrapped into one.

I write about him not because of his shows or his books, though, but because of his personal branding.  It's brilliant.

Chris Powell is all about personal transformation, even has a tagline to prove it.  He helps people not only lose weight, but deal with personal issues as well.  Including making over their home.  Think a more realistic and more thorough "The Swan".  And it happens over the course of a year, not in a weekend or in six fast weeks.  He knows what it takes because he too has been there.  His own personal journey is quite amazing, and is the basis for his brand.

Chris also has this new concept called "carb cycling," which for a carb-aholic like me makes a lot of sense.  See, like any good brand, he's contributing new value to this consumers.

I marvel at his personal branding because it's clean, crisp, and air tight.  He knows what he is and he communicates it well.  He has a personal story and credentials to back it up.  He's all that a personal brand should be.  Chris Powell, Transformation Specialist.  Reminds me of Jillian Michaels, "TV's Toughest Trainer."

What's your take away?  Be crisp, clean, and tight about your own personal branding.  And see if you can write a tagline about who you are ... like Chris's "Transformation Specialist."

When my new book comes out about personal branding (September 2013), you'll see I devote an entire section to this very exercise.  Me?  I'm a "Builder and Fixer, " and you'll see how I got there.

What are you?  What's your experience?  Jim.
